Recycled Water Program

The image shows a stack of purple PVC pipes marked "DO NOT DRINK," indicating they are not meant for potable water.

Las Virgenes Municipal Water District was a pioneering agency in using recycled water as a valued resource. In 1972, LVMWD worked to replace some of its imported potable water with recycled water from the Tapia Water Reclamation Facility. Recycled water is recovered from wastewater through an extensive treatment process. While not safe to drink, recycled water is great for irrigating parks, school grounds, and home landscapes.

The Las Virgenes – Triunfo JPA offers a variety of recycled water services. For residential customers and homeowners, we have a free Recycled Water Fill Station where customers can collect up to 300 gallons of recycled water for irrigation purposes. For businesses, government properties, and public spaces, we have a purple pipeline water system that may be connected to Recycled Water Sites.

Delivery Options

There are two options available to have recycled water delivered to your home, depending on the volume needed.  Please review the details below to determine what program best fits your needs.

Self-Haul:

This option allows for customers to send another person, such as a landscaper, to deliver recycled water straight to them. There is no charge for the water, but regular RWFS rules and regulations still apply:

  • Customer AND delivery person must watch the training video and submit an application.
  • Limit 300 gallons per pickup.
  • Water cannot be stored in containers other than the containers used for pickup.

Commercial Hauling Option:

This option allows for delivery of larger quantities of water by commercial water haulers.

  • Water hauler companies are at sole discretion to set delivery prices and schedules.
  • Water cannot be stored in containers other than the containers used for pickup
  • Recycled water provided by Las Virgenes - Triunfo Joint Powers Authority can only be delivered within the JPA's service area shown in the map below.
