We offer a variety of rebates, services, and programs that help reduce your outdoor water use AND keep your yard beautiful.

Landscape Transformation Program 

Removing turf grass is a big step towards reducing outdoor water usage. Through a partnership with SoCal WaterSmart, homeowners are incentivized to replace their turf grass with more sustainable landscaping options by offering rebates for eligible participants.

Follow these 5 steps to transform your yard! 

Step 1 – Preparation 

  • Design a landscape plan.  YourSmartYard.org is a great resource to help you do it. 
  • Take 5 photos of your yard, including landmarks.  
  • Obtain a copy of your most recent water bill.  

Step 2 – Reserve your rebate funds 

  • Submit your photos and recent water bill online. 
  • DO NOT start the project until your pre-application is approved.  

Step 3 – Complete the project 

  • DIY the transformation or hire a certified landscape professional.  
  • You have 180 days to complete the project and apply for a rebate. 

Step 4 – Apply for the rebate 

  • Submit 8 photos of your yard, including landmarks, and a copy of your most recent water bill for approval 

Step 5 – Receive rebate check by mail 

  • You will receive your check 8-10 weeks after your rebate is approved.

Irrigation Retrofit Program 

The Irrigation Retrofit Program is a partnership between LVMWD and Water Wise Consulting Inc. that offers a certified professional to examine and help upgrade your existing irrigation system to maximize your water efficiency and save you money.   

Follow these steps to join the program! 

Step 1 - Schedule a Landscape Survey   

Read the LVMWD Survey Terms and Conditions then schedule your in-person Home Water Use Survey. Complete the "Landscape Survey Form" below to schedule your landscape survey by WaterWise Consulting, Inc. or call +1(866)648-2925.  

Step 2 - Schedule Installation  

After survey completion, participants will receive an email with a comprehensive water report, including an analysis of your irrigation system. If eligible, WaterWise will contact you to schedule the Irrigation Retrofit installation. If you do not qualify, reasons will be noted in your survey report. Contact WaterWise if further explanation is needed. 

Important Information: 

  • LVMWD will cover up to $1,500 in residential irrigation upgrades per qualifying household and $3,000 for commercial properties. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • Customers have 30 days to reschedule retrofit installations, and a 30-day warranty on services. Contact WaterWise for any labor related issues.   
  • Installations will not include installation of new irrigation systems, reconfiguring of underground pipes, or repairing broken lines.

Free Compost Program

We offer free compost for self-loading pickup at our Rancho Las Virgenes Community Compost Center, a service of the Las Virgenes – Triunfo Joint Powers Authority.  Our compost received a "Class A, Exceptional Quality” rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), meaning it can be used for flower, lawn or vegetable gardens and has excellent conditioning properties.  

When: 

Mon - Fri 7:30 am - 2:30 pm and Sat 8am - 1pm   

Where: 

3700 Las Virgenes Rd – at the intersection of Las Virgenes Rd and Lost Hills Rd 

how:  
  • Bring your own sealable container (storage bin, sturdy plastic bag, truck bed, etc.).  
  • Compost must be covered during transportation.  
  • Bulk loading, or transporting large amounts via special equipment, is NOT available on Saturdays

Right outside our Pure Water Demonstration Facility (4232 Las Virgenes Rd) is the beautiful Sustainability Garden, which demonstrates climate-appropriate landscaping that can significantly reduce water consumption. These landscaping options require less maintenance, minimal fertilization, and no harmful pesticides.
