Standby Charge
On your property tax bill under “Direct Assessments,” you may have seen this item: “Las Virgenes Wtr $10.00”. The charge supports the Potable Water Replacement Program intended to replace parts of your water system due to wear and tear with age, comply with new regulations, improve safety and increase the efficiency of water delivery to your home.
The parcel charge is $10 annually for properties one acre or less, and $10 per acre and each portion thereof for parcels greater than one acre. For example, a 1½-acre lot parcel charge would be $15 per year. A Standby Charge Deferral Program is available for property owners who believe they receive little or no benefit from the water system, such as those with unimproved properties.
